grey blending

Someone please explain what grey blending is, and What are my options in covering grey hair?

1. Situation: Client has LESS than 50% white, most white concentrated in the front. They’re looking to “camouflage” but not cover.

  • Option 1:  To highlight the front to make the white look less obvious, and tone with something ashier to match blend closer to white hair.

  • Option 2: To use a non permanent, gentler product that can give some more tonality to just the greys without covering it completely.

  • Option 3: To cover completely with a traditional permanent color that will have a “line of demarcation” aka “root line” where greys begin as your hair grows.

2. Situation: Client has salt and pepper almost 50% white.

  • Option 1: You can go the permanent route but you’ll see white regrowth as your hair grows.

  • Option 2: You can do a demi-permanent route which fades over time and will reveal the whole strand of white vs “first few cm”.

  • It all depends on whether you want a gradual rinse-out revealing the entire strand of white, or a grow out of just the rootline of white. The preferred maintenance is up to you!

3. Situation: Congratulations! You are almost 75% or more white!

This is a great opportunity to enhance your hair with a silver tone or blonde tone to lean in the grey look without looking completely white. “Lowlighting” slightly is also a possible add-on!
